How to deal with problems from family in inter religion marriage and m

I am a Hindu and my boyfriend is a muslim man and he's fearing from getting married to me as of due to religion differences . What can I do to make him understand to not backoff in the matter
this is not pe se a legal problem, because under the law you can marry him under the Special Merriage act without any problem, so there is no legal embargo, but may be he is under social and psychological fear, for that you will have to talk to him calmly, may be engage some trusted friend who can mediate on this issue, if your parents are threatening and not agreeing, you can approach the court for police protection once you are married.
