Girlfriend's parents are forcing her to marry someone else

04-Nov-2023 (In Family Law)
My friend(Hindu) is from UTTARPRADESH, her family is Orthodox still living in BC. They are trying to marry her with a guy who is 12yrs older than her .she wants to marry a guy who is 3-5yrs older than her not a decade .she is a well educated and was an employee for 18months .if she marries him her life is spoiled so I'd like to know whether there is any law or legal procedure to solve this issue which supports her.i know how our marriage system works but still it's 21st century and a girl's opinion is to be mattered.no one bothered about her feelings in her family everyone telling her to shut her mouth and even her mother slapped her to accept him.kindly suggest a solution to convince them even if not legally. PS: we are IN LOVE FOR THE LAST 13 months. Their parents don't accept me as I'm from different state.

Where the girl is a major, she can marry without the consent of her parents. Her parents cannot take any legal action against you for marrying their daughter against their will. A girl who is above the age of 18 can marry a boy of his choice. And her parents cannot force her to marry someone else.
