Forced admission in an old age home

My friend is a widower . He is 75y.o. He lives in Kolkata. His only daughter lives in Mumbai with her family. My friend had some psychiatric problem. He was kept in an old age home. He is cured. But daughter won't allow him to go home.
I would like to know whether the lady ( mother) has her own home? If yes, then she has every right to move to her own home. If not, then her only daughter is legally liable to take her home. Immediately take legal action to bring her back to her own home.
