Can parents disown their daughter ?

26-Jan-2023 (In Family Law)
Our daughter is a divorcee and has been in a relationship with a muslim guy for 4 years now. We do not want to have any relationship with her if she is willing to marry him. She is free to marry him but we dont want her to be a part of our family anymore as she has threatened us to file a harrasment case against me and my husband if we stop her from entering the house. We never stopped her to marry him but she is neither marrying him nor leaving him. She is not willing to leave our house (rented) as she wants to create problems to the upcoming marriage proposal for our other two daughters. We are fed up as she says nobody can stop her from entering the house neither can stop her from meeting him while living with us which is not acceptable to us. She has already complained twice to police last year when we tried to scld her for her behaviour

If the property is self acquired property of parents then a married daughter or adult son do not have any rights to enter the house unless parents allow them to. You say you are living in rented house and if you are the lesees' and paying rent then Your daughter is at your mercy. She has no rights of entry unless you allow her to. If your daughter creates nuisance or threaten you , you can take suitable legal action. Since the matter concerns your own daughter i think you should make her understand by counseling before taking any legal step.
