Mistake of surname in Caste Certificate

there is mistake in my surname in my catse certificate and i have to submit by this month of 20th for CAT exam, what should i do? Is there any chances of rejection?

It should not matter, if the rest of the details are accurate like first name, father’s name and address. English names are vocal translations of the name in local language - there can be reasonable variations as a result. However, it is important that you maintain the consistency in your documentation. So please correct your name in the certificate - either by applying again or requesting corrections. Do this as soon as possible.
Meanwhile use the existing certificate for applying. In case of trouble, please tell the authorities that the corrections have been applied for and request extra time to make the corrections. If this is not accepted, please file a case in court requesting them to direct the authorities (college or job) to accept the existing documentation, until the new certificate is issued. Clerical error should not be used to deny, the right of affirmative action.
