What is the procedures for child custody and surname change

My friend who is a lady lives separately from her husband since 8 yrs. He is married now with 2 daughters. My friend has a boy and both of them r not divorced yet. Now she wishes to marry but her new man in life wants to change her and her son's full name and put his names instead. Help

you query seems to be incomplete. you havent mention religion of the said couple. if the couple is not muslim then the marriage of husband is invalid as his first marriage is not dissolved. name of wife after divorce can be changed however name of the child without his fathers consent cannot be changed.
