Procedure to apply for sole child custody without any visitation right

I am married for 9 years and my daughter is 7 year old. My husband's has been physically and mentally abusing me. My husband and I want to go for mutual divorce now. I want my daughters sole custody and I don't want my husband to have any right visiting my daughter as he might hit her. Please help : 1.Can I apply for sole custody of my child to protect her. I am afraid if I ask for sole custody he might denied me giving divorce. 2. Marrige in MP, lived together in London but now I am working in Pune. Whr to file divorce case?3. Living separately for 1 year in mandatory or 6 month separation is enough?
