Police did not take complete statement in DV case what to do

14-Oct-2023 (In Divorce Law)
I have submitted a detailed report for dowry haraasment against my husband and inlaws in police station . They called me for my statement. They did not take my full statement and told me to sign the statement. I signed the statement. Now they are saying that your signed statement is not showing any dowry case because they did not mention anything related to dowry in writing the statement. And they are saying we are closing your complaint. What should I do for registering dowry case and domestic violence? Should I give my statement again ? Is it possible ? Is police playing a game?

If Police is not helping, then either you can report this matter to their Police Superintendent or you can file private criminal case before the Magistrate regarding the matter.

After filing the private criminal case before the Magistrate, he can order Police to take proper action.

Dear

From perusal of your query it seems that you have given a complaint to the police in writing along with supporting docs for dowry but while investigation police has took your signature on plane paper & subsequently they are pressurizing you for closure of the investigation in the light of your statement which does not contain any thing about dowry.

If it is true, We require for perusal of your complaint which was given to police by you along with supporting docs & also require the copy of that statement which police alleging that you have mentioned nothing.

Mean while you can represent it to IG of Police along with SP & concerned Police in CC with the help of any expert lawyer.  So that if in future IGP also negligent on the issue that representation could be sole for filing the private complaint before criminal court.

If police will not act as per law the court will compel to do their job as per law.
