Mere filing of a 498A IPC case does not prove guilt. Allegations must be proved with evidence. If no dowry was taken and your wife left the matrimonial home on her own, you have strong legal remedies. You should immediately apply for anticipatory bail, which is normally granted in matrimonial disputes. Preserve all evidence such as chats, call records, witnesses, and proof showing absence of dowry demand. If the allegations are false, you can seek quashing of the FIR before the High Court after examining the complaint. Courts are conscious of misuse of Section 498A, and false implication can be challenged effectively. Do not panic—legal defence is available and strong, provided you act promptly and properly.
