If a woman marries another person without obtaining a legal divorce from her first husband, the second marriage is considered void in the eyes of law. However, under the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, if she has lived in a domestic relationship with the second person, she may still claim maintenance depending on the facts of the case. Additionally, she may also seek maintenance from her legally wedded first husband. Each case depends on its specific circumstances, and detailed legal consultation is advisable.
