Wife can obtain khula divorce if she thinks that the marriage is irretrievably broken, though she can only get a divorce from her husband by returning the Mahr, which is the sum of money or property given to the wife by the husband in consideration of marriage. In addition if both parties agree to divorce then they can go for mutual divorce called as mubarat. She will not be entitled to alimony or Maintainace under muslim law.

Please do not be concerned about unfair financial burdens. In a Khula (divorce initiated by the wife), the woman generally agrees to forgo her Mahr (dower) as consideration for the separation. While she may still be entitled to maintenance during the Iddat period, she is typically not entitled to long-term alimony if she is the one seeking to dissolve the marriage without a fault on the husband's part. You should ensure the terms of the Khula Nama are clearly documented to protect yourself from future financial claims.

she can if file the case in sec 144 of BNSS. it gives right to wife for alimony if she is not capable of earning. Also as per muslim rules, a wife is entitled to get her Mehar back and the maintenance till Iddat period. If you can prove you have no earnings or little have no child and wife is sufficient to make a living, she can’t be able to claim alimony after iddat period. she is generally entitled to maintenance only during the iddat period under the Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Divorce) Act, 1986, but not to future alimony or maintenance, as khula typically involves the wife waiving her financial rights (often by returning mahr or through a settlement); however, if such waiver is not clear or the khula is disputed, she may still claim maintenance under Section 125 CrPC by proving inability to maintain herself, and as held in Danial Latifi v. Union of India, the husband remains liable to make a reasonable and fair provision for her future, payable within the iddat period.
