Issue on domestic abuse at home

18-Mar-2026 (In Divorce Law)
Hi I have been in a marriage where my husband believe that as a wife I am inferior to take decisions and any decision regarding children upbringing is always criticized. Now my children are criticizing me and taking advantage of my husbands abuses on me and behaving as they like. For example bunking college, roaming with friends and demanding money and literally extorting from my mobile. To get a bike I have been going through abuses from kids also. Just confused in a toxic environment

Your facts clearly indicate mental cruelty and domestic abuse. Constant humiliation, denial of decision-making authority, and creating a hostile environment through the conduct of your husband and children cannot be legally justified. You have the right to seek immediate protection and relief. You may proceed with: 1. Complaint under the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005 seeking protection orders, residence rights, and monetary relief. 2. Maintenance for your financial security. 3. If the situation is intolerable, you may also consider divorce on the ground of cruelty. The conduct of your children, if instigated or tolerated by the husband, further strengthens your case of mental cruelty. You are not required to suffer in a toxic environment. The law provides you full protection, and you should take timely legal action to safeguard your dignity, safety, and financial rights.
