Is decree/certificate issued by court is sufficient to prove annulment

05-Nov-2023 (In Divorce Law)
Greetings, My husband and me are going through annulment now. And I have a question regarding removing his name from my passport Is annulment decree issued by court fully sufficient to submit at passport office to remove spouse name (my husband name) from my passport? When I inquired this with few agents and lawyers, many/all of them seem to be not fully aware of marriage annulment (null & void) and emphasized that spouse name will only be removed with a divorce decree (not annulment) or death of spouse As we are married under special marriage act, court has advised us to go through annulment and after annulment has been passed by court, both of us will go back to 'Single" marital status. Our marriage will be null and void after we receive Annulment decree/certificate from court As divorce is not applicable and our marriage will be annulled completely, I would like to know if this decree/certificate issued by court is sufficient or not? Thank you.

Hi
The court decree annulling your marriage is sufficient to remove your husband's name from spouse column and also to change your marital status to single in all public documents including passport. So no worries at all.

Yes. The Annulment decree will serve the purpose to remove your husband's name from your passport as both of you will be considered having single status after the annulment. Contact the passport authorities.
