Involvement of commissioner for divorce by in laws

My in-laws had come to my place and taken my wife with them for 10-15 days for change in routine. When inlaws had come both families had a meeting where we expressed our concern about use of foul language about me and my family during my wife telephonic discussion with her mother and double stds of my wife. Post this there wasnt any communication between me and wife/in-laws, they were silent for 4-5 months and then my father in law called up and said they would be coming to take back wifes jewellery and cloths etc. to which I agreed. They didnt turn up for meeting, later again they fixed meeting and asked marriage cost to be provided to them on phone. Last month In laws had come for meeting during which we gave them brides jewellery and cloths. Now recently basis wifes applicn i received a call from comissioners office of police and they asked me to come to comissioners office on a particular date for joint discusn with wife/inlaws. What safeguards to be followed n legal opt plz advice
