In laws are asking to put a lie in MOU of MCD.

03-Jan-2025 (In Divorce Law)
I had already accepted to a high alimony. We have agreed upon giving 50% of the alimony while signing the MOU and starting proceedings of MCD. Now they are asking me to explicitly state in the MCD that the 50% amount that I am giving them is their money. That is to explicitly state that I am merely returning their money. This is a lie. Could i get into legal complications by mentioning this?

Yes, you could face legal complications by stating in the Mutual Consent Divorce (MCD) petition that the alimony you're paying is a return of your spouse's money, if this is untrue. This is because such a statement could be considered. It is strongly recommended that you DO NOT include this false statement in the MCD petition. Instead, you should: -Consult with a lawyer immediately -Consider amending the MOU (if necessary) In short, honesty and accuracy are paramount in legal proceedings. Attempting to deceive the court will likely lead to more significant problems than simply adhering to the agreed-upon terms of the alimony, even if it seems like a high amount. Seek immediate legal counsel to avoid potential legal repercussions.

Yes, She and her family can demand more alimony in future, if you state, that, whatever 50 % you are giving to her Wife is what you owe them and as such, you are releasing such liability upon you by returning their money which they have lent you. Hence, don't give such statement in writing for your welfare.
