If I file divorce case, can my in-laws file a false defamation case

Hello, My married life seems to be going rough since past few months. I've been married for a year now. It is a love-but-arranged marriage. My wife does not seem to learn things on how to manage household activities. She is also not found as a trustworthy person by my family members, based on some instances. Divorce will be my last option, if all my efforts to teach and explain her fails in another one year. My query: If I file a divorce case, can my wife's parents file a false defamation case to get compensation from us? What they can probably do in this case, if I apply for a

No your in-law cannot take any action against such defamation moreover if you planed to file divorce file it first point time and approach the court as litigant, if your are subjected to any of the ground given in section 13 of Hindu Marriage act , 1955.
