Husband's surname was added along with the maiden name of a lady in the marriage certificate. Howeve

28-Jan-2023 (In Divorce Law)
Husband's surname was added along with the maiden name of a lady in the marriage certificate. However no change was made through affidavit or in gazette or in any other government id or document. The marriage ended in divorce. The divorce certificate also has the husband's surname included in the lady's name. Does she has to officially change the name now if she wants to drop out the husband's surname. Is there any time limit to do so.. as the divorce was finalised around 5 years ago

1. Signed and attested affidavit confirming that you need to change your name due to said reason 2. Publication in newspaper that you are changing your name back to maiden name. 3. Gazette publication. (Optional for non bank employee) If you need, you can contact for affidavit and name change publication’s drafting help.

There are three mandatory things, which are needed to be done for authorizing the name change: 1. Affidavit Submission: An affidavit needs to be prepared for the name change. 2. Ad Publication: An announcement should be published in the newspaper. 3. Gazette Notification: A notification should be published in the Gazette of India regarding the name change.
