How to curtail inlaws from defaming me?

24-May-2025 (In Divorce Law)
My divorce cases are pending since 3 years. I am a famous person within my community. To extract more money from me, my in laws are resorting to defaming tactics. They are approaching everyone around me one after the other to negotiate for high alimony. They are approaching press also. How can i control this? I am losing my privacy. They are too smart to not leave proof of defamation. Can i get something from lower or high court to only solve this in courts?

you can seek legal protection and restrict them to court proceedings only. file for a Gag order. it will help you from your wife and - in laws for defaming you in public and media from your wife and in -laws. the family court will pass a Gag order restraining your wife and in -laws from defaming you in public and relatives and approaching third parties like relatives press for negotiation. It will help to stop making false allegations outside the court also . You can approach the High Court for Writ Petition or section 482 of CrPC also. If your wife and in - laws are spreading false allegations on you, you can file a Civil Suit for injunction to stop all these messes. It will help you, if they are too smart and avoid written proofs and call recordings also. File an FIR If the police refuse to register your FIR you can directly Approach the Magistrate under section 156(3) of CrPC . File an application to expedite the diverse case for early hearing. You can also file for and damages for their mental harassment on you. Show that your wife and In-laws only motive is monitory (only for money) not for the justice. To Protect your privacy and reputation you can ask your Lawyer to issue a public statement to clarify that all the negotiations must happen in court only , not outside the court . You can immediately take an action to file an urgent application in family court for a Gag order. Send a legal notice to in-laws and media to warn against deformation. If you are a public figure, the Court will likely take Swift action if you prove harassment and extortion.
