The application for mutual divorce will be filed both by the husband and wife.. After it is filed the court will give a date of six months.. This time period is given by court so that both parties can again rethink about getting together.. If after six months you still want to end your marriage then court will pass a decree of divorce..

You need to file a divorce petition on mutual consent. Both of you will be called on the first date of hearing and your statements would be recorded. You would be again called six months later and again your statements would be recorded. That's all and a decree of divorce would be given to you by the court.
It take only six months for divorce on mutual consent.

you need to be living separately for one year before you can file for mutual divorce. Two motions i.e. the petitions need to be fields in the court where you both resided last together and in six months divorce decree shall be granted.
