A divorce application form is a legal document that is filled out by the petitioner (the spouse initiating the divorce) and submitted to the court. It typically includes information about the parties involved, the grounds for divorce, and the relief sought, such as child custody, property division, and alimony. The divorce petition or the divorce application form initiates the divorce process and formally requests the court's intervention. The time it takes to receive a copy of the divorce application form or petition along with court summons can vary depending on several factors, including the efficiency of the court system in Chennai. Typically, it can take a few days to a few weeks for the petition to be served to the other party.

To check if your partner has filed for divorce, you can inquire with the family court where the divorce petition would likely be filed. They may provide information regarding the status of the case. Additionally, some courts in India have online portals where you can search for case details and track the progress of the divorce proceedings, provided you have the case number to feed into the tracking system.
