In India, you cannot legally “disown” siblings through a court order, but you can prevent them from inheriting your self-acquired property by making a registered will or gift deed. Public notices of disowning have no legal effect but can be issued for symbolic reasons. If siblings harass or threaten you, you can file a police complaint or civil suit. In case of ancestral property, file a partition suit to claim and separate your share. Always consult a lawyer to ensure your legal documents are valid and enforceable.

First send a Legal Cease and Desist Notice to the siblings Thereafter You will have to get a Public Notice published through your lawyer: This serves as a public declaration and helps protect you from future claims or issues arising from their conduct. *It's advisable to get an affidavit prepared and notarized before publishing such a notice, especially if financial issues are involved. Also important is the Affidavit/Deed of Declaration: An affidavit or a deed of declaration stating your intention to disassociate from your sibling. This document can outline the reasons for your decision and confirm that you will not be responsible for their actions.
