06-Sep-2025 (In Divorce Law)
I met this person through matrimony site in August 2022. Families met. After three years, he disappeared. We had given Shagun/Roka to him. Marriage was fixed. Thereafter, he demanded to see all arrangements and his family also asked favours, demanded things, like, dena toh hota hai. We didn't encourage them. Then, he said, I have election duty. Marriage posponed. He blocked my number. went his home didn't meet. This man is now active on other matrimony site. He did fraud to me, cheated me.

From the facts you have shared, this man appears to have induced you and your family into giving money and gifts under the pretext of marriage and then backed out. His conduct amounts to cheating and breach of trust. You can file a police complaint under Sections 417 and 420 IPC for cheating and seek recovery of the money and articles given at the time of Shagun/Roka. You may also initiate civil proceedings for recovery if needed. Please collect all evidence such as chats, calls, transaction details, and the marriage understanding before proceeding.

First of all rather than going legally you should serve him a legal notice to figure out what's going on in his mind regarding you. After that if he fails to give you a satisfactory reply then you can anytime send a complaint regarding your grievances in writing to the police station according to your jurisdiction.

the fact that there was Roka, dowry-like demands, money exchange, and deception makes it a fraud case rather than a mere personal dispute. You can file a complaint at your local police station under cheating (420 IPC) and dowry harassment provisions.
