Once the police file the charge sheet, the matter is taken cognizance by the Magistrate Court. After scrutiny of the charge sheet and documents, the court will register the case and then issue summons to the accused. This process may take some time due to court workload, verification of records and administrative procedures. Non-receipt of summons does not mean the case is closed or delayed permanently. It only indicates that the court is yet to complete the formal process. You may verify the status of the case by approaching the concerned court or through your advocate and obtain the case number and stage of proceedings. If there is unusual delay, your advocate can file a petition or representation before the court seeking early issuance of summons and expeditious trial. This will ensure that the matter proceeds without unnecessary delay and your legal rights are protected.
