Can I cancel marriage after engagement

Hi, I was engaged to a girl on 7th March. It was an arranged marriage and all the things went real well. Last week, I found out that the girl is only an Intermediate and not a graduate (BCA) as claimed by her family (BCA was mentioned on the Bio-Data). After I found this out, I decided not to marry her, and my family has informed the same to them, Now they are saying that they will file a law suit against us saying that we are demanding dowry and I have an affair and hence I am saying no for the marriage. Please let me know, if I can take any legal step against them. Thanks.

First of all you must investigate and asked.
Now it is betterment for both of party has decides not to marry.
If its is false case under 498A filed against all your family members, your whole family will start burning with a desire to take revenge. Because false case may be a Triable Case.
In my view, and hire a laywer or contact me then try to choose later options.
