Advice Needed: Husband Threatening to File Case and Contact Employer

I’m in a consensual relationship with a married woman, working in the Maldives. Her husband found out and is threatening to contact my employer and file a case in India AND INFORM MY FAMILY. I know adultery is not a crime anymore, but want to confirm my risks and how to protect my job and privacy. I have his threatening messages saved. Please advise.

You have to file a complaint against the said person in several authorities having jurisdiction over the matter. You also have to take legal precautions against the said individual in the courts situated within kerala

Adultery is no longer a criminal offence in India, so he cannot initiate criminal proceedings against you on that ground. However, he may still try to harass you by filing frivolous complaints or contacting your employer or family. Since you have the threatening messages, they can be used to file a police complaint or legal notice for criminal intimidation and defamation if he interferes with your job or reputation. To protect yourself, retain all evidence of threats, avoid further communication with him, and be prepared to file a complaint with cyber police / local police if he contacts your employer or publicly defames you.
