From the facts stated, you may have valid grounds to contest the matrimonial cases and also seek divorce on grounds of mental cruelty, suppression of material facts, and non-consummation of marriage. The alleged suicide attempts, concealment of mental health issues before marriage, and demand for huge settlement amount are all relevant aspects before the Family Court. However, proper strategy depends upon the pleadings, evidence, medical records, messages, and pending case details. Kindly consult and engage a competent nearby family law advocate to protect your rights effectively in both trial and enquiry stages. If the matrimonial cases are already at trial/evidence stage, your case will depend entirely on credible evidence rather than allegations alone. If you can establish that material facts regarding the wife’s pre-existing mental health condition were deliberately concealed prior to marriage, and such concealment substantially affected marital life, the same may constitute a strong ground in matrimonial proceedings. Collect and produce all available medical records, prescriptions, hospital documents, suicide-attempt records, witness testimony and other independent evidence. Mere allegations without documentary proof may not carry sufficient evidentiary value before the Court. The allegation of non-consummation of marriage, forced marriage and immediate withdrawal from the matrimonial home may also be relevant circumstances, provided they are properly pleaded and supported by evidence. As regards the demand of ₹20 lakhs, no party can legally compel payment merely as a condition for divorce. Any claim for permanent alimony or settlement is subject to judicial scrutiny based on facts, financial capacity and evidence on record. Focus on strengthening documentary evidence and effective cross-examination, as the outcome of the case will primarily depend upon proof rather than assertions.

If the facts stated by you can be proved through reliable evidence, such as medical records, witnesses, messages, or other documents, non-disclosure of serious pre-existing mental health issues before marriage, repeated suicide attempts, refusal to cohabit, and denial of marital obligations may constitute mental cruelty under matrimonial law. The court will, however, decide the matter based on evidence and not merely allegations. Since matrimonial and related proceedings are already pending, place all available material before the court. As regards the demand for ₹20 lakhs, its legality and purpose would depend on the facts and circumstances of the case and should be examined carefully.
