How to get custom clearence when wrong decription is mentioned
17-Jul-2023 (In Customs & Central Excise Law)
Require custom clearance for a philatelic item posted via courier service. Sender by mistake pasted the label with wrong description. As a result courier guys are asking for 42% duty instead of 5%. What should I do?
You can ask for rexport of the item with correct classification. Alongside with the courier receipt and the duty such calculated on the item send the details to the consignor. The correct classification I believe falls under chapter and such can be demanded under proper head.

Dear Friend,
Your query does not state any facts, so it is difficult to give you any advice. Kindly seek proper consultation.
On what basis are courier guys asking for duty? Is it a cross-border courier?
If you are not willing to share any information, it will be best to pay up the duty.
