A settlement arrived at through High Court–referred mediation has strong legal value, but it does NOT automatically quash the FIR. Quashing happens only when the High Court passes a specific order under Section 482 CrPC / Section 528 BNSS. Until the final quashing order is passed: The FIR technically continues to exist. Police/court proceedings remain alive (though usually kept in abeyance).

I understand that you have amicably settled with your wife regarding the current dispute. But it is not entirely true she cannot file any other criminal case against you. For further information you can connect with me.

Since the matter was settled through High Court–referred mediation and the settlement terms have been complied with, a joint petition for quashing of the FIR should be filed before the High Court. The FIR will legally end only after the High Court passes a final quashing order. Till then, the FIR technically continues. Whether the wife can file any future criminal case will depend on the settlement terms and the court’s final order. For help in this matter, please contact me.

A criminal case is quashed only by a formal order of the High Court, not merely on the basis of mediation talks. Ensure that the settlement terms are recorded in writing and placed before the High Court and obtain a final quashing order for all accused. Until such order is passed, the FIR technically survives. As regards future cases, the wife can be restrained only to the extent of settled disputes; fresh criminal acts, if any, cannot be barred. Always rely on court orders, not oral assurances.
