What to do if Police file complaint in Kannada that I don't know

25-Sep-2023 (In Criminal Law)
What happened in police sation can be any bodys guess. The police lodged her complaint or an FIR but did not give us a copy of that which they should mandatorailly. The brother of girl mr sumit kakade and his friend came in police sation and abused me before i got up and ran before the cops present in there. When my chance came to present the facts of the case the writer did not take my version in to account and only asked me whether i knew kannada which i guess is the writing language. Alll converstaion that took place in the police sation was in kannad which me nor my father has no idea about. I mnya times requested the officials to communicate with me in hindi or english. A FALSE COMPLAINT WAS FILLED AGAINST ME BY THE OPPOSITE PARTY WHEREIN MY I HAD NO ROLE TO PLAY. NONE THE LESS I HAD TO TAKE A BAIL AND COME BACK TO PUNE BUT THEFALSE CASE WILL GO ON I GUESS.

Hi,

According to CrPC Sec. 207, the reports recorded by police under CrPC sec. 154 should be provided to accused. In case, If you did not receive documents then you may approach higher officer of the station. Kanada is official language to prepare documents by police. The FIR and reports all would have submitted in the court where the police station has jurisdiction. So, you would need advocate help to get all documents along with translation.

Thanks,
Niranjan.

However, you have taken bail and be sure you would not jump the terms of bail. Your lawyer should be strong in this case failing which it may lead to complications for you. You have ample opportunities to prove you innocence.

As a rule herein the state of Karnataka, all government office official language is Kannada. So police will record every complaint in Kannada language. In case if you are facing a false complaint then i suggest you to file a quashing petition before the Hon'ble High court of karnataka.
