What is the liability of a passenger in a car accident

Dear Sir, Whats the liability of passenger in a car accident.When I was travelling with my friends in my friends car when he was driving the car met with an accident with another auto which was an head to tail coalition.The Incident took place 5 years ago and was not a major accident.My question is can the auto driver file a case now.If so will I be punished to since my friend drove away after the accident.
U will be liable for a motor accident if u r the driver or the owner of the vehicle involved.otherwise not.so don't worry be happy.if the driver has a valid driving license and the vehicle a valid insurance,there is no need to panic,he must help the injured.
