Never heard of the term squash in legal parlance. It is a fruit, it also means crush but in my opinion has no relevance in the legal field. What u r looking for is Quashing of the FIR and it can been done both before and after the chargesheet has been filed. Only the filing nomenclature changes and a couple of Paras but all technical. This petition needs to filed on High Court and usually is done after a compromise has been arrived at between the parties. It can be done otherwise also if it can been shown from the record that blatant misuse of the process of law has taken place. In the trial court u can go for discharge a stage that comes after filling of the chargesheet.
