What are the criteria for abetment to suicide

A friend of us committed suicide after loosing money in betting. In the suicide note he has written that no one is responsible for his death and the case is registerd u/s 174 crpc.. can you guide us on to what happens to people who used to bet with him..? Will they be held responisble..?

In order to convict a person under section 306 IPC for abetment of suicide, there has to be a clear mens rea to commit the offence. It also requires an
active act or direct act which led the deceased to commit suicide seeing no option and this act must have been intended to push the deceased into such a position that he/she committed suicide.
