To get out of one love affair situation

04-May-2025 (In Criminal Law)
I was in a 4-year relationship, but after 3 years, I faced mental harassment and ended it verbally. The girl later went to the Adyar Women's Police Station, showing old chats about love and marriage. Though no FIR was filed, a CSR report was made, stating I’d marry her in a year. I have call recordings of her and her mother admitting the mental abuse. No sexual activity or financial fraud occurred. I'm seeking legal help to avoid an FIR and resolve this peacefully.

S.Gunasekar Advocate Answer. Consult a lawyer immediately. Since no FIR exists yet, your call recordings can support your defense. File a counter-complaint for mental harassment if needed. Aim for mediation to resolve it peacefully.

Since no FIR is filed and only a CSR exists, you're in a safer legal position for now. However, the CSR statement that you’d marry her in a year could be used against you later. Since you have call recordings proving mental harassment, they can support your side. To avoid escalation, submit a written representation to the police denying consent to marry and highlighting the harassment with proof. You can also issue a legal notice asserting your position. If pressure increases, file a CSR or NCR complaint for mental harassment. To prevent an FIR, stay cooperative but firm. One of a Lawyer from our Law firm Rajendra Law Office LLP can help mediate and ensure peaceful closure while protecting your rights.
