Teacher at my college beating students for getting low marks

Respected Sir/madam, I'm a college student from Kerala. One of the teachers at my college routinely beats students for getting low scores. My question is simply whether that is legal or not? What determines that? The whole college knows about this. If this is indeed illegal what do you recommend, I do next? Thank you for your time.

it is illegal, the teacher has no right to punish physically to any students and the college is also liable for the acts. you may send a legal notice or you can file a pvt complaint before the magistrate court
