Is it illegal to take a photo of a woman at public place without her consent. If yes then what sections and penalties can be imposed

If someone is taking pictures then its an act of stalking and voyeurism therefore he can be implicated under sections 354C/D..Therefore a police complaint against the same can be lodged and if police takes no action then you can move to the court.

As such it is not an offence but at the same time case of eve teasing can be made out against tbe person and which is also a punishable offence under indian law the person can be booked under the said section

The view of courts have been different in this aspect. After criminal amendment act of 2013 it has become crime of doing any such thing in public, and may be an offence under 354 IPC, however, it has not been given expressly in any of such sections. But the present situation is that it is not an offence right now. Penalties- imprisonment of upto one year.
