students paid money for job but we could not provide and told will pay

i am running a consultancy and taken payments from students upto 3 lakhs for their jobs unfortunately that misfired and i told students, give me time for 2 months will pay you back the cash and already paid 40k back when issue missfired. but they taken my car which is under my wife name and telling me pay the cash and take the car can i do anything regarding this.
