Smoking Hookah in public charged with COTPA act affect on PCC

18-Dec-2023 (In Criminal Law)
Hello, Last year t year I was caught smoking hookah in a bar. The police took me to police station entered my name and address in the register and made me sign a document( maybe chargesheet I'm not sure) they took a fine of ₹200 and left me I was not told to come to court or anything. There was no arrest. Now I am about to go to US and have to apply for passport and visa and have to apply for police clearance certificate. Will this incident show up on the police clearance certificate. PS the police station where are paid the fine is not my local police station. Please help me I'm in a dilemma. I have not smoked since that incident and have not had any encounter with the law for any reason before or after that unfortunate incident.

Hi... you need not to worry more and you apply for your visa more ever Kotpa is a law in the sense it will punish you by way of imposing fine only and it will not be considered as a criminal case in the strict sense.
Thank you
