First, understand that delay in criminal proceedings is common. However, the law provides remedies. You should regularly follow up with the concerned police station and the court. Ensure that all documents, statements, and evidence required from your side are already submitted, so that no delay is attributed to you. Second, you may move a written application before the learned Magistrate seeking early hearing or expeditious disposal, stating that repeated adjournments are causing prejudice and mental harassment. Courts do consider such requests when justified. Third, if the delay is at the police stage (investigation not completed or charge-sheet not filed), you can file an application under Section 156(3) CrPC or a suitable application seeking directions to the Investigating Officer to complete the investigation within a time-bound manner. Fourth, if there is deliberate inaction or negligence by police, a representation can be made to senior police officers. In appropriate cases, a writ petition or application before the High Court can also be considered for directions. Lastly, stay patient but proactive. Criminal law takes time, but consistent legal follow-up, proper applications, and court directions usually bring the process back on track. Always act strictly as per law and through proper legal procedure.

It is submitted that no specific relief has been disclosed. The only information provided is that a criminal matter has been filed before the competent Court. In the absence of details regarding the relief sought and particulars of the proceedings, it is not possible to suggest an appropriate legal remedy or alternative relief. The concerned party is therefore requested to clearly specify the relief prayed for, along with relevant details, to enable proper legal advice in accordance with law.

If you have filed a criminal complaint and the matter is getting delayed, you may seek early hearing, file an application to expedite proceedings, press for effective steps like summons/evidence, or approach the higher court for directions if there is undue delay by the trial court.
