Self defense according to Indian Constitution

If a male or a female hits me first do I have a right to hit them back is a law in the Indian Constitution which states I can or cannot hit the person who started it
it is not constitution but indian penal code gives you right to respond whenever your life or property is in eminent danger .yes it includes life of ur family as well any other person. but danger must b obivious n deadly. you are not allowed to crush a person because he was coming from wrong side
