Relatives insulted mother judge saying that he wont give punishment

Some of my relatives, my mother ' s brother and my maternal cousins had insulted my mother very badly. They had said a woman like u should die by burning herself, u should not show ur face in the society. After all these she took the kerosene drum in presence of these people and she closed the door to burn hrself. These people who insulted her were present in front. A woman. Came to save my mother but this group of insulters moved her back by saying that it is all drama. My mother is acting. Is this not a crime ? The judge and lawyer in the session court are all saying that they will not get any punishment. Plz help

You can file a complaint at the police station against those relatives of yours. They have committed the wrong of “abetment to suicide” which is a criminal offence. But the problem is your mother has also attempted to commit suicide which is punishable under section 309 of Indian Penal Code, 1860. Section 309 provides a punishment of simple imprisonment which may extend to one year or fine or both. If you decide to file the complaint then the incident to attempt to commit suicide will come within the notice of Court and she might be punished for the wrong under Section 309.
