Regarding filing FIR for physical violence

I had given money to my friend as a help and when asking for multiple times he has denied to give my money back. I have all the proofs. I went to his office and he abused me and slapped me. I don't have any proof for this physical violence. Can I file FIR against him? Will police understand this?
