don’t be panic, represent your father name as a eyewitness and raise a police complaint against cheater who is not complete their work, make sure annex documents in complaint like cheque and stamp, There is no cause for concern regarding your father ,he has not committed any crime or fraud, so rest assured.

Agar aapki baat ke mutabik aapke papa ne sirf ek mediator ki tarah dono parties ko milwaya tha, unhone apni taraf se koi paisa nahi liya, na hi repayment ki guarantee di, aur document par sirf witness ke roop mein sign kiya tha, to sirf witness hone se un par paisa chukane ki kanooni zimmedari nahi aa jaati. Witness ka kaam keval yeh batana hota hai ki uske saamne document execute hua tha. Agar cheque, stamp paper ya kisi agreement mein aapke papa ko guarantor, co-borrower ya jointly liable nahi dikhaya gaya hai, to unke khilaaf sirf is wajah se case banana aasaan nahi hoga. Haan, agar party fir bhi unka naam case mein daal deti hai, to ghabrane ki zarurat nahi hai. Aapke papa apna written reply dekar yeh bata sakte hain ki unka role sirf witness aur mediator ka tha, transaction mein unka koi financial interest ya liability nahi thi. Iske liye agreement, cheque ki copy aur stamp paper ko dhyan se dekhna zaroori hoga ki unmein unki kya position likhi gayi hai. Meri salah hai ki kisi civil lawyer se saare documents turant verify karwa lijiye aur bina documents dekhe kisi bhi notice ya legal action ka jawab na dein. Agar sirf witness ke roop mein sign kiya hai aur guarantee nahi di hai, to aam taur par kanoon ke hisaab se unhe dusre vyakti ka paisa chukane ke liye zimmedar nahi maana jaata.

From the facts stated by you, merely signing as a witness does not automatically make your father legally liable. If he neither received any money nor stood as a guarantor, his liability will depend upon the terms of the documents and the nature of the transaction. If the payment was made directly between the parties and your father only signed as a witness, he has a valid legal defence. However, it is not possible to give a final opinion without examining the cheque, stamp paper and all other relevant documents. Therefore, I would advise you to visit my office with the complete set of documents. After carefully examining the papers, I will be able to explain your father's legal position, possible liability and the best legal course of action.
