Prodecure to compromise and withdraw a crimanal case

Dear Sir/Madam, I have filed a criminal case against a professional vehicle thief 8 years ago, now he want to compromise and disposed off that case. For your information, I have return got my lost vehicle from same person 6 year ago and i'm a govt. employee. Can I compromise and ask to court to dispose off that case or not?
U will have to appear before the court as witness & deny about the earlier statement made before the police
