Person took money offering job-cheated

22-Nov-2023 (In Criminal Law)
Hello sir, one of my neighbor convinced me that most of the govt jobs are filled by political influence and he know few politicians. If we pay money to him then he will get me a job. As I know him since very long time, without even thinking twice we gave money to him some in cash some did transfer. But later we got to know that he cheated us . When he asked for money he told he will return as soon as possible. But it's been 3.2 years that he has not even returned a single rupee . I know a constable from one of my friend when we explained the case to him he told legally police can't do anything as it is like bribe case. But I read at least 8-10 cases related to govt job fraud in the past 1 year in the news paper and police arrested the culprit. Is it legally possible to take action against Him ,what is risk for me? Please give me direction.

You can definitely take action against him, what is the evidence you have against the accused?
This is not a case of bribery but a case of cheating and impersonation and breach of trust.
Next time please do not consult constables , instead take advice from a lawyer who knows law.
