My lawyer has filed is threating me through police for money.
04-Jan-2026 (In Criminal Law)
I have withdrawn case against my husband and filed mutual divorce, my lawyer was unhappy and wants money, so he is threatening me through police to pressurise me for more money.
He doesn't have any written agreement with me for any settlement fees, also settlement was not done through him. He is harrassing me by stalking, now I received a call from police station to visit regarding complaint from my lawyer. But police is not sharing any complaint copy or written notice.
What to do?
Hello,
At this stage, it is important that you first appear before the police in connection with the complaint and present your version of the events. Cooperate fully with the inquiry and explain the circumstances from your side so that the authorities have a complete understanding of the situation. Once your statement has been recorded and we have more detailed information about what has happened, we will be in a much better position to review the matter and provide you with appropriate guidance and support on the next steps to take.
There are Various legal Remedies to deal with it . Rest depends on matter.

You are free for withdrawn case not a special criteria I think you write a complaint against lawyer and firstly you send a complaint for high court bar council and secondly Send a copy for SP or Dc I sure your problem is resolved
The conduct of the advocate, as narrated, is illegal, unethical and amounts to criminal intimidation and harassment. In absence of any written fee agreement or settlement deed, the advocate has no enforceable legal right to demand any additional money, particularly when the settlement and mutual divorce were not concluded through him. Fees cannot be recovered by threats, misuse of police machinery or coercion.
Police cannot summon or call you orally merely on the basis of a private complaint, especially when no cognizable offence is disclosed. You are well within your rights to insist on a written notice under Section 41A CrPC or a copy of the complaint before appearing. Without a written notice or FIR, you are not legally bound to visit the police station. Repeated calls without notice amount to abuse of process.
You should immediately send a written representation to the SHO and senior police officers stating that you are being harassed at the instance of your former advocate for illegal fee demands and that no written notice or complaint has been supplied. Preserve all call records, messages and stalking evidence.
Further, you may file a complaint before the State Bar Council for professional misconduct, as threatening a client and using police pressure is a serious violation of advocate ethics. If harassment continues, you can approach the High Court under Article 226 or seek anticipatory protection, as well as initiate proceedings for criminal intimidation and extortion.
