Lost acquaintance’s gold chain when i was drunk in a party

Me and my friends went to a club. And i got drunk later. We went outside for smoke. And during that event my acquaintance lost his gold chain. he says i lost it, but i don’t remember anything as i was drunk. even my friends didn’t see the chain in my hand. we tried to find chain but didn’t recover it in club. he either wants full compensation from me or he will file complaint against me. i am lost because i don’t know what to do in this case, as it’s unfair for me to believe him that i lost it

u took the chain from him at any point of time? or he gave it to you at any point? and then you lost the chain. if it's yes only then the liability of you arise. if u were drunk. u must have remembered these facts. if he didnt give u ever. u have no liability
