Legal remedy if police is not filing FIR

03-Jun-2023 (In Criminal Law)
Hi, This is with reference to a recent incident where I lost my valuables and the police did not take my request for FIR because they said it does not have a section to apply for. I kept my box of jewelry inside some clothes in the cupboard and my husband without knowing gave the pile of clothes away to house keeping . When we realized the first day the police did not bother taking a complaint, then after writing email they took an NCR and did nothing later, when we insisted on FIR they on which they were expecting some money too, however they only said there is no section under which we can cover this up and hence no FIR can be lodged. Kindly help because I am planning to make this viral on social media, this is really sad how these guys who can do so much just for some influence of our President does not take charge of their duties.

1. This incident attract Theft,Mischief, breach of trust ... etc

2. As police already refused to register FIR, I suggest you to approach a lawyer to file complaint with magistrate to get direction for the police to file FIR and investigate further.
