Is taking a desert cooler without knowing it is of someone's else and

I took cooler from storeroom of girls hostel to use but I didn't know it was of some other girl as it was in very dirty.After5-6 days she asked if I've seen some cooler then I said I have that.Now warden is involving me in theft case.What should I do?

You can always convince the warden that it was not theft and you were never involved in theft. You took it from the store room. And if you want to go legal and they are not listening to you then you can always file a written complaint with the police station of your area. For more legal assistance I am just a call away.

There are a few grounds of defence in the case of theft. Every theft requires the accused to have specific intent to commit the theft.  If the prosecution fails to prove that the accused had the required specific intent then he is entitled to a verdict of not guilty. you can also try and speak with the warden to settle the matter.

Yes if u take Anyone’s property without his permission it amounts to theft. However u May immediately hire an advocate who can draft your apprehension intimation that the cooler u took was by mistake …plz b in touch
