Is someone legally obligated to tell police, is someone as joke said they will commit a crime, not sure about time, place, person and if the person was serious?
As for your question there is no general legal obligation to report a joke .
here we must have considered the creditability of the treat.
is there reason to believe the person was really serious or not ?
some places have failure to report laws for serious crimes .
here we must observe morals.
if there was reasonable suspicion of danger, we must report that the authorities may be the safest choice.
