How to proceed with case once original Inquest report is lost ?

12-Dec-2023 (In Criminal Law)
My sister was murdered by her husband and family. As he(my sister's husband) is a police constable, looks like he managed the police (not sure what went wrong ) and police are saying that original inquest report is lost. Police are saying that they have xerox copy and they we will rewrite that. But my question is, what if they rewrite the inquest report (we do have xerox copy of original)? this case is pending since 3 years. As my sister's husband is PC , like looks he managed our lawyer also. our lawyer is also not helping us and saying that until they submit charge sheet , we cannot do anything. Please suggest me as what to do with this case? Is there anyone genuine lawyer who can help us in this regard? Any legal advice would help us a lot. Thank you Very much in advance.

if the original inquest report is not found and panchanama of the dead body will be disproved and the accused can get a benefit out of it so he might manipulate the said thing and mere re-writing of the panchanama will not be effective
